Breast excisional specimen radiograph: a single centre experience from a regional laboratory

Background: Specimen radiography plays an essential role in breast pathology, the identification and correlation of microcalcifications, location biopsy site abnormal tissue.1 Aim: To examine characteristics specimens that had underwent specimen radiography. Method: Over a six-month period, X-ray during macroscopic assessment were identified. Parameters included type, size, diagnosis, margin status, indication analysed. Results: Sixteen The median medial-lateral span was 85 mm (range 30–255 mm). 63% wide local excisions 37% mastectomies. lesion size 36.5mm 0.6–110 diagnoses ductal carcinoma situ (DCIS) (75%), invasive (19%), with in-situ component (6%). None assessed margins involved by tumour. indications for performing radiographs to locate marker clips (56%), identifying microcalcifications (13%), neoadjuvant tumour bed (13%).
